US School Bans Student Over Ebola Fears, After Attending Wedding In Nigeria

A Nigerian man resident in the US has sued a Connecticutschool for banning his daughter over Ebola fears.
Stephen Opayemi has filed a complaint against the Meadowside Elementary School, in MilfordConnecticut after the school banned his 7-year-old daughter, Ikeoluwa for 21 days, the normal quarantine period for the disease.
Opayemi and his daughter had attended a wedding in Nigeria and this caused panic as parents and teachers were concerned that she could transmit Ebola to other children in the school despite the fact that she had not exhibited any symptoms.
The aggrieved father filed the suit in a federal court in New Haven, Connecticut and asked a judge to order the school to allow Ikeoluwa back into class.
The child’s mother Ikeolapo Opayemi said:
"We're hoping this will get her back into school as soon as possible."
Nigeria had 20 Ebola cases and eight deaths before it successfully contained the disease and was declared Ebola-free by the World Health Organization on Oct. 20.
