Rihanna slams Karrueche Tran for dumping Chris Brown

Is RiRi planning on going back to her ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown?

Rihanna is reportedly slamming Karrueche Tran for shaming Chris Brown on social media. Close sources to the pop star say she thinks the model is just being 'tacky and childish' for doing so!
According to latest reports, RiRi still has a soft spot for Breezey despite not dating him since 2009.
HollywoodLife reports that Rihanna surprised Chris and gave him some words of encouragement backstage at the Microsoft Theatre on June 28 in Los Angeles before his BET Awards performance.
And now, the 'Bitch Better Have My Money' singer is allegedly telling her close friends she feels Chris’ recent ex is too hard on him.

''Rihanna doesn’t really know Karrueche all like that and doesn’t walk in her shoes. But from her outside perspective, she feels she goes too hard on him and let’s the world in on their business on social media. That’s just tacky and childish! Ri thinks Karrueche needs to give that boy a break,'' a source exclusively tells the site.
''Karrueche will never know what people in this business like Chris and Rihanna go through on a daily basis,'' the source reveals.

''It’s a constant grind. Their schedules are demanding. They’re traveling. They’re in this country today and another tomorrow. It’s exhausting. And on top of all this, Chris has a baby now! That is and should be his number one priority – not Karruche. Not their relationship,'' the source added.
Is Rihanna trying to win back her ex beau?

Saraki: There won't be delay in confirmation of Ministerial nominees

Press statement from the office of the Senate President..
Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki today (Tuesday 30th of June 2015) gave assurance that there would be no delay in the confirmation of ministerial nominees once the list is sent to the legislature by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Senate President while receiving the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Denys Gaver, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office, said it was to ensure that the suspension of plenary does not disturb serious government business like the screening of ministers that he has continued to reiterate the fact that the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly will resume plenary when there is any urgent matter of national importance.

Responding to the comments by the French Envoy, the Senate President said that though the Senate is currently on break but “ we are working and we are ready to reconvene any time to attend to any national assignment, including the confirmation of President Muhammadu Buhari's ministerial nominees.". > He also pledged the cooperation of the National Assembly with the executive arm of government in accomplishing the programmes of the administration.

The Senate Presidency said bills from the executive arm of government would be treated with dispatch, as part of efforts to support the President to effect the positive change expected from his administration by Nigerians.

The senate president told the French delegation that the Senate has commenced work already with the setting up of the 18 man committee to formulate a realistic and progressive Legislative Agenda, which he said would address issues like poverty alleviation, law enforcement, national security, commercial disputes, eradication of corruption and investments in the Petroleum sector.

Saraki further said the National Assembly will partner with the French National Assembly in the area of capacity building for legislators, strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries and ensuring that more French investments flow into Nigeria.

He specifically solicited the co-operation of the French government in tackling the security problems in the North-eastern part of Nigeria, particularly as Nigeria shares borders with French-speaking countries. > Earlier, the French envoy, who described the leadership tussle at the National Assembly as part of democracy, solicited for cooperation between the National Assembly and the President Buhari-led executive arm of government.

The French Envoy said that the expectation of the international community on Nigeria is high

He also called for cooperation between the private sector in Nigeria and its counterpart in France.

On security, Gaver said France is encouraging her former colonies in West Africa to cooperate with Nigeria in the onslaught against the Boko Haram insurgency.

100 killed after Indonesian military plane crashes into residential area

No fewer than 100 people were killed after an Indonesian military plane, C-130 Hercules carrying 113 passengers crashed into Medan, the third largest residential area in Indonesia.

According to Indonesia's Air force chief, Air Marshall Agus Supriatna, the pilot told the control tower that the plane needed to turn back because of engine trouble. "The plane crashed while it was turning right to return to the airport," Supriatna said.

Also speaking, police chief of Medan city Mardiaz Dwihananto, said several bodies had been recovered from the wreckage.
"The bodies were in the debris of the plane and buildings...we are taking the bodies one by one by ambulance to Adam Malik hospital. We haven't managed to evacuate all of the bodies," Dwihananto said.
The C-130 accident is the second time in 10 years that an airplane has crashed into a Medan neighborhood.

In September 2005, a Mandala Airlines Boeing 737 crashed into a crowded residential community shortly after takeoff from Medan's Polonia airport, killing 143 people including 30 on the ground. Medan, with about 3.4 million people, is the third most populous city in Indonesia after the capital, Jakarta, and Surabaya.

"A new case of Ebola has been reported in Margibi County. The person has died and was confirmed positive before death. He has been buried" Nyensuah said
Family members of the deceased have been quarantined so as to stop the spread of the virus. Liberia was declared Ebola free on May 9th by the World Health Organization. A total of 11,207 people died from Ebola in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone since the outbreak began in December 2013.

BET Awards: African complaints of unfair treatment are a show of hypocrisy

Yemi Alade has cried out against the treatment of African stars at the BET awards.
The BET awards have raised a lot of storm and generated a huge amount of controversy. In the US, they picked Kendrick Lamar over J Cole. In Africa, they chose Stonebwoy over Nigeria’s darling Yemi Alade, and in the UK, Fuse ODG lost out to Stormzy.
First, all’s fair with non-voting awards. The honors are appropriated by an undisclosed group of people who sit in communion, go over certain secret metrics, yardsticks, and criteria, before announcing nominees, and later, deciding the awards.

A huge number of mitigating factors come into play in this system, and not all of them are fair, or represent the best of influences. The BET does not own a scientific system that collates trusted empirical data, such as album sales, artiste revenue, streaming statistics, and many others.
They simply choose, based on flawed knowledge and congeniality.
Choosing is not the fairest ways to determine a winner of a competition. The person or group who get to make the call, will have to deal with a number of biases, innate partiality, personal tastes, conflicting influences and the worst of all: pettiness.
Throw all of these together, and you will never have a fair award. Or anything close to it.

But then it is easy to complain when things don’t go your way. If Yemi Alade had been put through the panel of judges, and found favour, she wouldn’t be on social media with a strong voice against activism. She would have practically done cartwheels to Los Angeles, and received her award backstage, splash images on social media, send glowing press releases and cue in the praise from fans.

A classic example of this, was when Wizkid won the gig in 2012. In all fairness, he declined the backstage invitation to receive his award, but he turned up in LA for interviews and preshow parties.
Ice Prince received the nod in 2013, and he arrived at the event wearing the American flag, and posing for professional photos. Many were even expecting him to break into a special Afro rendition of the ‘Star Spangled Banner’. Davido also made a meal out of it in 2014.

It is easy to use the wisdom afforded to us by hindsight to scream activism and be vocal about treatment of artistes and poor handling of non-US stars. But has any winner ever complained while the lights were shining on him? Fat NO!
Then there’s the issue of the TV ratings system. The BET awards is streamed to millions of viewers on TV whose behaviour gives feedback which translates to either a positive or negative rating as determined by the defective but functional Nielsen ratings.
A good rating means the program is being viewed by many people who find it interesting, and so would be converted by the organizers of the BET for commercial monetization. In all honesty, America would rather see Kendrick Lamar and Nicki Minaj, come onstage to receive awards. They really don’t want Stonebwoy on their screens.
Stonebwoy won the 2015 BET award for Best International Act - Africa. He has no complaints.play

(Instagram)
If that happens, they lose a certain amount of viewers, which will affect their ratings, and subsequently, their money. Sentiments don’t count here. It’s just business, no hard feelings. No compromise has been found for this, and for the unforeseeable future, none would come.
The African acts who feel disrespected by this can choose to reject the awards, or public denounce the nomination, as a coup for equal rights and fair recognition.
But they don’t. Only the losers complain, and that is a worse evil than maltreatment. It’s called hypocrisy.
