Renowned Nigerian music producer, Adenola Adesegun Gabriel, popularly known as Eskeez, has advised artists both upcoming and established to remain focused and consistent as the music industry continues to evolve and expand on the global stage.

Speaking on the rapid transformation within the entertainment sector, Eskeez noted that while talent remains essential, it is persistence and discipline that sustain success in the ever-competitive music landscape.

“Being consistent is key in the music industry. You can be a good musician, but once you are not focused, your fame might fade away. The industry is moving into another dimension, and only those who remain committed will continue to shine,” Eskeez said.

The Nigerian music industry, now a multi-billion-dollar sector, has seen unprecedented growth over the last decade, with Afrobeats becoming one of the world’s most sought-after sounds. Eskeez, who has produced hundreds of tracks for top Nigerian artistes, has contributed significantly to this growth. His credits include major collaborations such as Olamide ft. Fireboy “Shibebe”, D’banj ft. Akon “Koko Remix”, Bella Shmurda “Jojo”, and Lyta “My Skin”, among others. He has also worked with household names like Wizkid, Lagbaja, and Fireboy DML.

Fans jubilate as Raydeen Squad Record Label is launched

 

The Raydeen Squad  Record label was officially launched on Monday, January 9th, 2023 in Lagos, Nigeria. A press conference was organized to commemorate the event and to officially unveil the signed artists of the record label; Chukwunonso Bob-chike (Stage name: Siren Cigaro), Harjot Ememiruwan (Stage name: Mezero) and Precious Akujuobi (Stage name: Ceefire). 

Friends, well wishers, and the press were in attendance to make the event a memorable one.

The event was hosted by Mr. Paul Oluwabusola A.K.A. Mr. Positive (C.E.O of Soaring media Concepts).

The highlights of the occasion include; 

1)An opening prayer. 

2)Introduction of all the signed artists and the record label's official producer; Kikidemproducer. 

3)Enumeration of the past, present and future projects of Raydeen Squad Records. 

4)Cash prizes were given out to some of the winners of #TheOneDanceChallenge who were in attendance.

5)An accapela presentation of song "The One" by the signed artists.

6)Toast and cutting of cake. 

7)Photo session.

8)Vote of thanks.

9)Closing prayer.

Prior to the official launch of the Record label, a hit single featuring all the signed artists (Siren Cigaro,Mezero and Ceefire) titled "The One" was released on Wednesday, December 7th,2022 under the Record label. The song, which is a remake of the Backstreet boys' "I want it that way" went viral on social media platforms  thus setting off #TheOneDanceChallenge.

Recently, a 5-tracked album titled "The One" was released by Raydeen squad record label on Sunday, January 15th, 2023.This E.P is lovely and multi-flavored. It includes 2 group songs and 3 individual songs by the three signed artists. 

 

The record label plans towards a listening party and a campus tour. The dates will be communicated to the public in due time. 

The label is currently running #RaydeenSquadAnthem Challenge. Fans can participate and win fantastic cash prices including free tickets to The Raydeen Squad listening party. They can simply upload a video dancing or vibing to any of their favorite song on the Raydeen squad's Album "The One E.P" using the hashtag;  #RaydeenSquadAnthem. BET Awards: African complaints of unfair treatment are a show of hypocrisy

The BET awards have raised a lot of storm and generated a huge amount of controversy. In the US, they picked Kendrick Lamar over J Cole. In Africa, they chose Stonebwoy over Nigeria’s darling Yemi Alade, and in the UK, Fuse ODG lost out to Stormzy.

First, all’s fair with non-voting awards. The honors are appropriated by an undisclosed group of people who sit in communion, go over certain secret metrics, yardsticks, and criteria, before announcing nominees, and later, deciding the awards.

A huge number of mitigating factors come into play in this system, and not all of them are fair, or represent the best of influences. The BET does not own a scientific system that collates trusted empirical data, such as album sales, artiste revenue, streaming statistics, and many others.

They simply choose, based on flawed knowledge and congeniality.

Choosing is not the fairest ways to determine a winner of a competition. The person or group who get to make the call, will have to deal with a number of biases, innate partiality, personal tastes, conflicting influences and the worst of all: pettiness.

Throw all of these together, and you will never have a fair award. Or anything close to it.

But then it is easy to complain when things don’t go your way. If Yemi Alade had been put through the panel of judges, and found favour, she wouldn’t be on social media with a strong voice against activism. She would have practically done cartwheels to Los Angeles, and received her award backstage, splash images on social media, send glowing press releases and cue in the praise from fans.

A classic example of this, was when Wizkid won the gig in 2012. In all fairness, he declined the backstage invitation to receive his award, but he turned up in LA for interviews and preshow parties.

Ice Prince received the nod in 2013, and he arrived at the event wearing the American flag, and posing for professional photos. Many were even expecting him to break into a special Afro rendition of the ‘Star Spangled Banner’. Davido also made a meal out of it in 2014.

It is easy to use the wisdom afforded to us by hindsight to scream activism and be vocal about treatment of artistes and poor handling of non-US stars. But has any winner ever complained while the lights were shining on him? Fat NO!

Then there’s the issue of the TV ratings system. The BET awards is streamed to millions of viewers on TV whose behaviour gives feedback which translates to either a positive or negative rating as determined by the defective but functional Nielsen ratings.

A good rating means the program is being viewed by many people who find it interesting, and so would be converted by the organizers of the BET for commercial monetization. In all honesty, America would rather see Kendrick Lamar and Nicki Minaj, come onstage to receive awards. They really don’t want Stonebwoy on their screens.

If that happens, they lose a certain amount of viewers, which will affect their ratings, and subsequently, their money. Sentiments don’t count here. It’s just business, no hard feelings. No compromise has been found for this, and for the unforeseeable future, none would come.

The African acts who feel disrespected by this can choose to reject the awards, or public denounce the nomination, as a coup for equal rights and fair recognition.

But they don’t. Only the losers complain, and that is a worse evil than maltreatment. It’s called hypocrisy.
