House of Reps Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal Defects To APC

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, has left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Tambuwal made an official declaration of his defection today, October 28, at the house plenary and is reported to be interested in running for the governorship of Sokoto State on the platform of the APC.

Rumours of his proposed defection had been spread earlier but the speaker insisted that he remained a member of the PDP.

Tambuwal had previously been expressing sentiments sympathetic to the cause of the APC and even attended a meeting of the opposition party in Sokoto.

The speaker was said to have adjourned the sitting of the House to December 3 after his declaration, which he was required by law to make to his colleagues.
