Joan Rivers wanted her funeral to be a glittery, all-star affair — and that included having Hugh Jackman perform at her service.
During his Wednesday appearance on “The Tonight Show," the movie star revealed that prior to her death, the late comedian had requested he perform at her funeral, which was held Sunday at Temple Emanu-El in New York City.
“It was amazing," the actor told host Jimmy Fallon. "I must admit, I've been to several funerals and I've always kind of felt for the person who has to sing. I've always said, 'Oh, how do you do that?'"
Jackman then detailed how he came to be a part of the star-studded service, which was also attended by Howard Stern, Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick, Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O’Donnell, among others.
"At her funeral, when Joan Rivers asks you (to perform), you just answer," the “X-Men” star said. "She had planned everything out. She had seen me in a show called ‘The Boy from Oz,’ which I did here on Broadway (in 2003). And I sang a song from that.
“It was called 'Quiet Please, There's a Lady on Stage.' It's a beautiful celebration of a woman and it was for her.
“And the entire audience in the synagogue got up and started clapping and cheering," he added. "The whole thing was very uplifting, very touching and moving, but funny."
