FG orders probe on NNPC over unaccounted N3.8trillion

The Federal government yesterday June 29th constituted a four-man committee to probe NNPC over N3.8 trillion unaccounted for by the corporation in the last three years. According to the Edo state governor, who is part of the 4-man probe committee, investigations by the federal government show that NNPC made N8.1 trillion from 2012-2015, paid N4.3 trillion to the federal government and withheld N3.8 trillion which the management of the corporation have not accounted for.

The probe panel was constituted by the National Economic Council which was inaugurated by President Buhari yesterday June 29th

"We are talking about transparency, we are talking about change and what we saw from those numbers I believe that Nigerians are entitled to know, is that whereas NNPC claimed to have earned N8.1trn, what was paid into the Federation Account from 2012 to May 2015 was N4.3trn. What it means is that NNPC withheld and spent N3.8trn. The major revelation here is that the amount NNPC paid into the federation account for distribution to the three tiers of government came to N4.3trn and the corporation alone took and spent N3.8trn. This means the cost of running NNPC is much more than the cost of running the Federal Government. That tells you how much is missing; what is mismanaged; what is stolen. These are huge figures. There is no enterprise manager who goes to the market and sells and just begin to spend, otherwise nobody needs to budget,” he said.
He added that if the Federal Government cannot spend without appropriation, agencies of government cannot not also spend money without appropriation
“This is what the constitution provided for. And this is what President Buhari has promised to do that henceforth all monies must go to the Federation Account. What do you need budget for; Nigeria cannot continue with you earn the money and spend it. Where is transparency? Where is the role of the National Assembly? So if you were doing that you won’t have a situation where the NNPC alone will spend N3.8trn and remit to the federal, states and local governments N4.3trn which means NNPC is taking about 47 per cent and that explains all the leakages you are talking about. We looked at the numbers for the Excess Crude Account. The last time the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, reported to the Council and it is in the minute, she reported that by November 2014, we had $4.1bn but today the Accountant General Office reported we have $2bn, which means the Honourable Minister spent $2.1bn without authority of the NEC.”he said
Other members of the probe panel includes governors of Kaduna, Zamfara and AkwaIbom states.

US gay marriage: Robert Mugabe asks Obama to marry him

Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe has challenged US President Barack Obama by asking his hand in marriage. His comment comes at the back of the legalization of gay marriage in the US by the Supreme Court.

During Mugabe's weekly radio interview with Zimbabwe’s national radio last Saturday, he said:
“I’ve just concluded since President Obama endorses the same-sex marriage, advocates homosexual people and enjoys an attractive countenance thus if it becomes necessary , I shall travel to Washington, D.C. , get down on my knee and ask Obama’s hand. I can’t understand how these people dare to defy Christ’s explicit orders as our Lord prohibited mankind from sodomy.''
Mugabe said the American Government is run by pervert, Satan-worshipers who insult the Great American nation.
He reportedly added
"That the American tradition and heritage was based on lofty Christian principles, but to the detriment of this great nation, America’s corrupt political elite is acting according to their diabolic whims.

Obama’s endorsement of gay marriage, the first ever from a sitting president, came amid growing pressure for the president to clarify his previously muddled opinion, as two senior members of his administration announced personal support for gay marriage and a day after voters in North Carolina approved a state constitutional amendment defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman.

Deputy Senate President Ekweremadu most be removed, APC insist

APC says Deputy Senate president Ike Ekweremadu who is a member of PDP must be removed from office. Senator Ekweremadu who was also the deputy senate president in the last administration, was elected deputy senate president during the controversial senate leadership election on June 9th which produced Senator Bukola Saraki as Senate President.

A member of the ruling party who spoke on condition of anonymity with Punch, said Ekweremadu serving as deputy senate president will adversely affect President Buhari's administration.

He also added that President Buhari has refused to see Senator Saraki and Hon Dogara since their emergence as Senate President and Speaker.
"As deputy senate leader, Ekweremadu is automatically the Chairman, Senate Committee on Constitution Amendment. This is a sensitive position that, statutorily, should not be held by the minority. Ekweremadu and his PDP co-travellers will hamper the policies of the Buhari government. By the virtue of Senate rules, a member of the minority is not supposed to be the deputy senate leader; so, he is occupying the post illegally. We know the body language of some of these elements to anti-corruption. Nigerians know the stance of Buhari on corruption and insecurity. These elements occupying positions in the National Assembly must be removed. Otherwise, this administration is dead on arrival. The President has refused to see Saraki and Dogara since they emerged as senate president and speaker respectively. Both Saraki and Dogara have done everything possible to see the President but he has shunned them because he is not happy about their conduct. You can see that the President has seen the Lawan group; this shows where his support lies” he said

Kim Jong Un executes airport architect because he didn't like the airport design

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has executed the chief architect of  the  new international Pyongyang airport...This news comes after he was pictured touring the building with his wife last week.
According to reports, the architect was executed because Kim didn’t like the design.
The project is the country’s latest bid to appeal to potential tourists since Kim ascended to power in North Korea three years ago and features a jewellery store, coffee bar, a pharmacy, a chocolate fountain and other luxury amenities.
Until his disappearance last year, Ma Won Chun, was North Korea’s director of the Designing Department of the National Defence Commission. His execution was confirmed when he was noticeably absent from the press photos.

Chun was the chief architect behind North Korea’s biggest government projects when he, along with five other high-level officials, were reportedly killed during one of Kim’s purges.

Ma was executed in November 2014 “For corrupt practices and failure to follow orders,” according to an Asian news outlet.
His death coincided with a report explaining that airport renovations were being suspended because of Kim’s dissatisfaction.Defects were manifested in the last phase of the construction of the Terminal 2 because the designers failed to bear in mind the party’s idea of architectural beauty that is the life and soul and core in architecture to preserve the character and national identity,”

Overweight woman flaunts her muscular new physique

An overweight 27 year old Canadian woman shed a third of her body weight, she went from being overweight in high school to placing in national bodybuilding tournaments. Trista Elaschuk who used to weigh 195lbs now weighs only 130lbs and is now participating in various bodybuilding competitions.

Trista said she decided to lose weight after high school so she joined weight watchers and lost 50lbs but like so many other people she gained weight again. However, when she met her current bf Kale, he inspired her to lose the wiehgt and maintain it.
About a year after they met, in November 2010, they went on a double date to their first bodybuilding convention. There, she felt in awe of the professional bodybuilders, and realized that she, too, could compete.
'I was so inspired and motivated by these women on stage and knew I had to be one of them,' she explained.
So Trista hired a coach, who worked with her for 23 weeks to get ready for her first competition.
'I traded in partying and binge eating on the weekends for heavy lifting and meal prep,' she wrote on her Facebook page. All that hard work paid off - her debut was at the Southern Alberta Bodybuilding Championship, where she placed three out of 15.
'I struggled with weight my entire life and went on my first diet at the age of 16,' she said in a recent interview. 'I knew I had to made a change.'

BREAKING NEWS: APC senators in physical combat over sharing of principal offices

ABUJA- CRISIS rocking the All Progressives Congress, APC , over the selection of principal officers for the Senate, Tuesday deepened as the meeting of the caucus members of the party in the upper chamber ended in deadlock.
At the meeting of the Senators to address the problem, some senators engaged in physical combat bringing the meeting to an abrupt end.
According to a source, the parley held behind closed door in Meeting Room 3:01,  had about 40 Senators in attendance as Senator Danjuma Goje, Gombe Central, led the group loyal to Senate President Bukola Saraki, while Senator Barnabas Gemade, Benue North East, led the group loyal to  Senator Ahmad Lawan.

“I appeal to you all to let us do those things that will unite us than do those that will divide us. For me, I am ready and desirous, as colleagues to work with all of you in order to provide that focused leadership in the Senate and National Assembly as an institution,” Saraki noted in his opening speech at the meeting.

Despite Saraki’s appeal, a source told Vanguard that Senators loyal to the Senate President  proposed that principal officers must emerge through an electoral process, conducted by Zonal caucuses, which will then present winners to the Senate President by Tuesday,  for announcement at the plenary, the next day.

The Unity Forum, a group of Senators loyal to Senator Lawan, however,  disagreed, insisting that only names nominated by the APC leadership for the offices must be adhered to.
There was a melodrama when Senator Kabir Marafa, Zamfara Central and Senator Tayo Alasoadura, Ondo Central were involved in fisticuffs over their opposing positions.
Vanguard gathered that Senator Rafiu Ibrahim (Kwara) and other Senators intervened, saving the ugly situation from degenerating further.

PDP Tells Buhari: You Can’t Blackmail Us...

Press statement from the PDP...
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says no amount of intimidation, blackmail and propaganda by the Presidency would stop it from standing shoulder to shoulder with Nigerians in demanding that President Muhammadu Buhari kick-starts government and commence implementation of his campaign promises for which he was voted into office.
The party said Presidency’s excuse of clearing the so-called Augean Stable is lame and diversionary noting that it stands by its statement that the delay is creating loopholes
Through which some persons claiming closeness to the President have infiltrated executive bodies, arm-twisting and conniving with unscrupulous elements in the bureaucracy to syphon the nation’s resources in the last 30 days.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh in a statement on Monday said the party would not in any way be cowed by threats and wild allegations by the Presidency into abdicating its responsibility of speaking out as an opposition party where the system is derailing.

“The PDP and indeed all well-meaning Nigerians were appalled by the response from the Presidency regarding our call for prayers to enable President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC administration locate its bearing, compose a government and halt the prevailing stagnation with its huge negative impact on the system.

“Instead of addressing the issues raised, the Presidency descended to insults, abuses and innuendos, a stance which not only bears out the case made by the PDP but also raises questions about the capacity of this administration to shoulder the enormous responsibility of governance.

“While we expect the present administration to be serious about the fight against corruption, probe and persecute each and everyone involved in such, irrespective of their party leaning, we restate that these must be done within the ambits of the law and must not be used as a witch-hunt ostensibly to discredit and undermine the opposition. We therefore caution against the current drama of politicizing the issue of corruption in the country.

“Furthermore, the analogy of the Augean stable, is completely baffling to us at this level as it goes to a great length to question the capacity and the sincerity of those around the president.

“In Greek mythology, Hercules in his ingenuity took the task and efficiently cleared the Augean’ stable in a day for which he demanded a reward of a tenth of fine cattle belonging to the king.

“Nigerians would not want to believe that in the so-called clearing of the Augean stable, although not delivering in one day, President Buhari wants to play Hercules in his demand, this time, by wanting to run the government alone without the statutory components of the executive as enshrined in the constitution.

“We ask, is the so-called clearing of mess responsible for his inability after 90 days of winning an election to make up his mind on rudimentary appointments such as Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief of Staff and his demand for 15 Special Advisers as approved by the PDP controlled Seventh Assembly since June 5, 2015?

“Perhaps we need to draw President Buhari’s attention to the fact that while he is busy clearing his imaginary mess on the pages of newspapers, some persons claiming closeness to him have in the last 30 days been piling up sleazes that also need his attention in key agencies of government.

“Despite the absence of approving and supervising officials, key income generating institutions like NNPC, NIMASA, NPA, FIRS and other strategic agencies have been invaded by persons claiming to be friends and associates of the President and this puts to question the sincerity and seriousness of the administration to affect the so-called change upon which they rode to power.

“Auxiliary to this is the issue of the construction of a helipad, amongst various expenses and other major government expenditure going on across board in the last one month and without due supervision as the eyes of the President cannot be everywhere.

“We declare unequivocally that we do have respect for the person and office of the President especially considering his age and status as an elder statesman. However, we will like to make it very clear that the President of the Federal Republic Nigeria is neither a Sherriff in the Old Wild West nor a military dictator in some Banana Republic. He is an elected president under a democratic setting.

LET THE SPIRIT OF DEMOCRACY REIGN!!!

Signed:
Chief Olisa Metuh
National Publicity Secretary
